Music Guests: Greg Greenway & Reggie Harris

Unforgettable music guests Greg Greenway and Reggie Harris!

Reggie Harris and Greg Greenway were born three days apart, with ancestry flowing through the same portal of American history—Richmond, VA. They are now on a pilgrimage together—one that began more than thirty years ago. Though the racial divisions that are the reality in America started them in two different worlds, the amazing power of music, respect, admiration, and shared vision have brought them together as friends and colleagues.

Reggie is a Woodrow Wilson Scholar and the Music Education Director of the Living Legacy Project of the Unitarian Universalist Association, co-leading annual tours through the hallowed Civil Rights Grounds of the South. Solo, and as half of the well-known folk duo, Kim and Reggie Harris, he has led hundreds of programs on Race and Social Justice.

Greg, founding member of the musical group Brother Sun, has been heard on NPR’s All Things Considered, Mountain Stage, and Car Talk. He’s played Carnegie Hall and had the honor for two years of having his song, “Rosa Parks” play whenever the website rosaparks.com was opened.

Together and individually, Reggie and Greg have brought the issues of Race to the hearts of audiences across North America.

The work of justice making is long and difficult. Together, Greg and Reggie share not only a story of overcoming, but provide a living, breathing embodiment of celebration, creative resistance, and joy, and their fluent stories and outstanding musicianship make it contagious! Both are committed to inspiring people, and encouraging others to take that step beyond the comfort zone. As they exemplify what is possible when people of good will reach in love across the racial divide, they encourage others to build the relationships that are, in the end, a path to healing.

NOW! What better time can there be to build bridges of love, joy, hope, and respect?
