Take a Step Leddy Hammock

Take a Step Leddy Hammock

(inspired by lyrics by Harold Payne):

I walk in the footsteps of those who’ve gone before. And this road I travel on will lift me up and make me strong.

I get my inspiration from the words of the children. I’m trying to teach myself what they already know.

If I can show my fellow man what a child can understand then the seeds that I have sown will surely grow.

If I take one step in the right direction, if I touch one heart along the way, and if that one step becomes a chain reaction, then my journey has not been in vain.

Responsive Reading for Sunday, June 11

“The LORD . . . will guard the footsteps of his faithful ones” (I Samuel 2:7-9).

“There’s an old ancient saying in the wind:
‘One must only take the first step to begin.
Then, you’re on your way and you’ve done the hardest part.
Now, make your journey with a generous heart.’”

“He knows my way . . . .  My foot has always walked in his steps;
his way I have kept and have not turned aside”
(Job 23:10-11).

Step by step, side by side, hand in hand, this old world’s a better ride.
Step by step, side by side, take a little step with your neighbor, side by side.

"My steps have kept to your paths; my feet have not faltered.
 I call upon you; answer me, O God.   Turn your ear to me; hear my prayer.
Show your wonderful love”
(Psalm 17:5-7).

If you see me falling down and you stop to lend a hand,
what goes around comes around.  We understand
that if you run to others for help, then they’ll know
that if they need help, they’ll know where to go.

“Those whose steps are guided by the LORD;
whose way God approves, may stumble, but they will never fall,
for the LORD holds their hand . . . .  God's teaching is
in their hearts; their steps do not falter”
(Psalm 37:23-31).

Step by step, side by side, hand in hand, this old world’s a better ride.
Step by step, side by side, take a little step with your neighbor, side by side.
