Ceremony FAQ

Should we invite the Minister to the rehearsal dinner or reception?
Invitations to these important family gatherings are certainly neither necessary nor expected by the Minister or the Minister’s family members. Since they have found it difficult to accept all of these gracious invitations, they ask to be excused, explaining that they will certainly be with you in Spirit. It is not necessary for a corsage or boutonniere to be ordered for the Minister who performs your service, although your thoughtfulness is much appreciated.

What about the Unity candle?
If you desire to include the lighting of a Unity candle, we ask that you provide your own three keepsake candles: two 8 to12” tapers of any color and 3 to 6” base candle of your choice. We have candle holders for your use.

When should we arrive at the Church?
Weddings are scheduled for approximately a 2 1/2 hour period. You may arrive one hour before the scheduled time of your ceremony (the hall Women’s Room is reserved for the ladies in the bridal party; Groomsmen wait in the Café, and guests use the lobby restrooms. Allowing an hour for photographs, you should be ready to depart one hour after the close time of your ceremony (which lasts about 20 minutes).

What about photography during the wedding?
Feel free to have your professional photographer, or guests, take photographs
(with or without flash, as you prefer) and/or to film a video during your ceremony. (We will be happy to suggest good locations for video cameras.)

What about a marriage license?
You will want to inquire at the county courthouse offices about regulations and timing in receiving a marriage license. It is helpful for our Wedding coordinator to be given the license at least several days before the date of your ceremony. After the wedding, the Minister will sign and mail your completed license to the local authorities, who will then mail your certified copy to you, usually within three weeks.

What about celebrating our newly-blended family by including our children in the ceremony?
Our Minister can offer suggestions about ways that this can be beautifully done.

What about including interfaith elements in our service?
Our Minister is very receptive to assisting in this beautiful idea!
